I need a lover to open to
like a sunwards blossom
But I am a flower with desire
Though I free my blooms for all to see and touch
I only have the heart for
a pair of tender hands
a pair of summerwarm lips
And a pair of mirthful eyes that wonderwiden at
each fresh expression of petals and my floral colors
A face to worship the honeybees which I feed
And the solitary wasp
The everhungry swallowtail
And each freshborn child who needs a redolent nosebreath
For each loving touch, my blooms turn quickly to fruit
The ripest and the sweetest of which I remember that
My lover will relish
The gardener who picked each pest from my branches
Fertilized my roots
And blocked me from the windstorms
May my lover love me through the autumn culling
As my petals wilt and my fruits rot
My roots shrivel and my trunk whither
And the frost freeze my oncegreen leaves
And I be buried beneath the snow blankets of a Winter that
Shall end with yawning Spring
The seeds of our love that perpetuates newLife
